PRIEST BOOTH

DULESGATE

Situated just of the Bacup Road a little way further along than Cloughfoot, Priest Booth was a farm with about 30 acres of moorland. Although it lies near the main road, it is still very high as the road climbs up and over the moors on its way to Bacup. Its nearest neighbours are the Midgelden farms.

Little is known about its history, but it was occupied in 1713 when a Thomas Nowell had his twins baptised. Today part of it is occupied, but the rest is derelict and without a roof.
