This
is the last Will and Testament of me Samuel Fielden, the elder,
of Doghouse in Todmorden, in the Parish of Rochdale and County of
Lancaster Yeoman, whereby I dispose of my Real and Personal Estates
in the manner following; And first, it is my Mind and Will that
all my just Debts, Funeral Expenses, the Charges of this my Will
in Probate, and all other my Executor's necessary Charges and Expenses
in and about the Execution hereof, be all fully paid, satisfied
and discharged, out of my Personal Estate; And all the Rest, Residue
and Remainder thereof, of what Nature or Kind so ever, or wheresoever
the same is, are or be; together with the Purchase Money for which
I have sold my Tenement or Farm called the New Inn, in Todmorden
aforesaid, or so much thereof as shall be unpaid at the Time of
my Decease, I do give and bequeath the whole of such Residue, and
Purchase Money, unto my eldest Son, Samuel Fielden, for his own
proper Use: And I do give and devise to my said Son, Samuel Fielden,
his Heirs and Assigns for ever, All those my three Cottage houses
called the Doghouse in Todmorden aforesaid, with a Croft called
the Doghouse Croft, and another small Parcel of Land, lying in the
Front of such Houses, with the Liberties and Privileges thereunto
respectively belonging, All now in the several Tenures or Occupations
of Ambrose Veevers, John Ingham, Martha Hopkinson, and my said Son
Samuel Fielden: And lastly, hereby revoking all former and other
Will and Wills by me made, I do publish and declare this to be my
last Will and Testament; and thereof do nominate, constitute and
appoint my said Son Samuel Fielden, sole Executor: In witness whereof,
I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal, the seventeenth Day of March,
in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty six.

I
the within named Samuel Fielden, the Testator, do make and publish
this Codicil to my last Will and Testament, in the manner following,
that is to say; I do give and bequeath to my Son Joshua all my wearing
Apparel; and to my Sons Joshua and John, and my Daughter Mary, or
Mally, wife of James Schofield I do also give and bequeath All my
Household Furniture, Bed and Bedding, equally to be divided amongst
them, Share and Share alike: And it is my Desire that this my present
Codicil be annexed to and made Part of my last Will and Testament
to all Intents and Purposes: In witness whereof I have hereunto
set my Hand and Seal this eighteenth Day of March in the Year of
our Lord, one thousand seven hundred and eighty six.
