Following is portion of e-mail received from Louis Shone April 19, 2002:
This week, I spent a couple of days in Claiborne County doing genealogy work. I was fortunate to find the graves of my sons' gr-gr grandparents who are buried in Claiborne County. J. M. Burch (John M. Burch) is buried in Head of Barren Cemetery next to his son, A. J. Burch (Andrew J. Burch). We were extremely fortunate to locate both of these headstones in the Head of Barren Cemetery.
Their graves are located directly in the center of the cemetery. J. M.s tombstone has been split into three pieces with two pieces lying on the ground and only one piece standing. On the piece standing, his initials J. M. are fairly easy to recognize. A. J.'s tombstone was extremely difficult to read but we were able to make out enough of it to determine it was Andrews tombstone.
The tombstone you have a picture of on the Head of Barren Web site is definitely not Johns tombstone. His is much lighter in color. The one you have a picture of might be Andrews. To orientate you, Andrews tombstone is closer to the highway than Johns is.
