Will: 1824 Sep 18 NJA 1917E I, Judith Townsend of the middle Township of the county of Cape May and State of New Jersey, being of sound mind and memory do make and publish this for my last will and testament. First, I give and bequeath to my five sons namely Enoch Townsend, Jehu Townsend, John Townsend, Elijah Townsend and Eli Townsend all my Cedar Swamp situate in the upper Township of said county to be equally divided between them in value as near as may be. Second, I give and bequeath to my Daughter Judith Swain all my right in the cripple Situate in said upper Township adjoining lands of Eli Leaming and others also one young brindle cow and all my weaving apparel excepth what is hereafter disposed of Third, I give and bequeath to my Son Enoch Townsend the bed that stands in the new house chamber together with boulster pillows, pillow cases, two coverlits, one bleu blanket and one sheat. Fourth, I give and bequeath to my Daughter in law Letitia Townsend my green calico gound. Fifth, I give and bequeath to my Son Eli Townsend all the residue of my moveable estate of every kind on condition that he pays all doctors bills, funeral expenses, etc. Sixth, it is intended and ment that all the above bequeaths to my Sons and daughters above mentioned are made to them their heirs and assigns forever. Seventh, I make, constitute and appoint my Son Eli Townsend my sole Executor of this my testament and last will. In Witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this eighteenth day of September in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty four.
