Grieved herself to death after husband left her and 3 children. from the "Olathe Mirror", Thursday, 2/27/1896 A GOOD CITIZEN GONE Mrs. Mahalah B. Robinson, wife of our townsman, T.C.Robinson, died at the family residence on Park Street on Monday 2/24, with pneumonia, aged 55 years, 11 months and 16 days. The funeral services were conducted from the Episcopal chapel in Olathe Wednesday, 2/26 at 2 o'clock p.m. by Rev. Mr. Gibbs, and a large number of sorrowing friends were present.

My grandmother, Judith Smith, (ed. note - Judith Smith is my GGGgrandmother: Thomas L. Townsend 4/26/1996.), was born 8/6/1769. My grandfather, Jesse Townsend was born 10/13/1771. They must've been married in the year 1790 or 91 for I heard mother say that grandmother lived with grandfather for 7 years and never saw him angry in the least particular, anyway, he died in August, 1801. I do not recollect although I have heard mother say that grandfather had seven sisters. Ann Townsend died with smallpox. One married Lippincott, one married Bauer, one Hopkins, one Jennings, one Ray, one Livingston. In 13 months they (Jesse and Judith Townsend) had twins who died young. In 13 months Josiah was born 1795. He was three years my mother's senior. My mother Ketturah, was born 6/2/1798 in Salem, NJ. When she was 3 years and 2 months old, grandfather died in August of typhus fever. In January 18, 1802, Jesse was born, 5th month after his father's death. Grandmother came to Ohio in 1805 from Jersey with a band of Friends and settled in Columbiana Co. 6. Her home was the first house built in the town of Salem, that Co. in 1811 they removed to Waynesville, Salem Co.6. When Uncle Josiah was a young man, she sent him back to New Jersey to learn the blacksmith trade of his cousin Murphy. He stayed til he was 21 and brought his cousin Warner Leeds out with him. Grandfather and Grandfather Pedrick lived near Waynesville, Salem Co. OH. They asked him to stay all night. They had not written that they were coming and grandmother did not know Josiah, but mother whispered to her "I believe it is brother Josiah." I have heard mother say that her mother's first husband, Jesse Townsend and her second husband Phillip Pedrick were both born the same day of the same year. I have also heard mother say that young as she was, she remembered her father perfectly and also the day that he died.
