Notes:

Peter bought the Stirling Tract of 23,000 acres. The Stirling Iron Works, owned by (his father-in-law) William Hawxhurst, Peter Townsend and Abel Noble, was located in Stirling, Warwick Township of Orange County, N.Y. They made the links that were put together to make the chain (weight 168 tons) that was stretched across the Hudson river in 1778 from Constitution Island to West Point to keep the British vessels out of upper New York They also made the first anc used by the U.S. Navy. Peter and Hannah lived in Chester, Orange Co. N.Y.
