Affanato, Arletta Streun

Mrs. John Affanato, 68, a native Roman died Sunday in Rome Hospital after a long illness. The former Arletta G. Streun, she was born Dec. 6, 1903, daughter of J. Frederick and Inez Streun. She attended local schools and was married to Mr. Affanato in Rome. He died in 1934. She had lived in Rome for about 55 years and moved to Lacoma, NH two years ago to live with a daughter. She returned to Rome for hospitalization some time ago. Mrs. Affanato was head matron for the Salvation Army for several years and was a member of the SA Home League. She leaves five daughters, Mrs. Edward (Marjorie) Smith, Rome, SA Maj. Ruth Foley, Jamaica, West Indies, Mrs. Theodore (Theresa) Thompson, a Salvation Army major in Keene, NH, Miss Sally Affanato, New York City, and Mrs. Raymond (Shirley) Cornell, Orangefield, Tex., a son, Elmer Foley, Taberg, a sister, Mrs. Harry (Zadie) Lighthall, Oneida, two brothers, Kenneth Streun, and Lewis Streun, both of Rome, 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral will be Wednesday, interment in Lee Valey Cemetery.
