Taberg - Curtis Johnson, 74, Main St., resident here for 40 years, died Sunday in a Rome Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born April 15, 1887 at Steuben, son of Isaac and Mary Parkhurst Johnson. On November 30, 1910, he and Lulu Cook were married in Lee. She died Oct. 8, 1952. he was a farmer near West Lee for several years and late was employed as a drover by the Town of Annsville until his retirement.
Mr. Johnson was a member of the Taberg Volunteer Fire Department for 34 years and a former member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, Remsen. Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday. Interment will be in Lee Valley Cemetery.

Taberg - Mrs. Lulu M. Johnson, 63, wife of Curtiss Johnson, died yesterday in a Rome Hospital after a long illness. Born in Lee March 16, 1889, she was the daughter of Chancey and Martha Wood Cook. On Nov. 30, 1910, in Lee, she was married to Mr. Johnson and the couple made their home in that village until moving to Taberg in 1923. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Taberg Methodist Church and of the WSCS of that church; she also was a member of the Auxillary of the Taberg Fire Department. Surviving besides her husband are two nephews, Earl and George Hall, Taberg. Fuenral services will be held Sunday at 2 pm at the Taberg Methodist Church with the Rev. George Stratton, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Lee Valley Cemetery.

Oneida - A 16 year old Oneida youth was killed Monday morning when the car in which he was a passenger went out of control and landed in a ditch.
Jesse Joslyn, 16, of 114 Williams St., Oneida, was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. Russell Lindauer, Madison County Coroner, who attributed death to severe head injuries.
Drive of the car, Robert G. Winchell Jr., Sweatman Avenue, was taken to Oneida City Hospital with abrasions to the neck and a sprained neck, after he was ejected from the vehicle Another passenger, Danny Hopkins, 18, of 112 Williams St., was admitted to the hospital with abrasions and contusions of the fae and head, and scalp lacerations. Both youths were held for observation, Oneida Police said.
According to Patrolman James Lundrigan, the trio were traveling west on Cobb Street at about 8:05 am when Winchell lost control while attempting to negotiate a right curve. The car skidded broadside and back across to the right side of the road, left the right shoulder, and went down into a culvert. The car flipped over onto its left side, and struck several trees before coming to rest.
Winchell was issued a summons for failure to keep right and imprudent speed, and is scheduled to appear in City Court Sept. 13.
Investigation by officers Lundrigan, Donald Caswell, Willis Andrews and Detectives James Eddy and Royal Blanchard is continuing.
Joslyn was born Oct. 23, 1956, in ROme, son of Lewis and Frances Lighthall Joslyn Sr. He attended Oneida schools and was employed by Doc's Trucking and Auto Supply, Oneida.
Besides his parents he is survived by four brothers, Pvt. Lewis E. Jr., Camp Lejeune, NC, Timothy, Oneida, and Bruce and Lyndon, both of Rome, six sisters, Mrs. Ronald (Debra) Sherman, Oneida, and Misses Christine, Patricia, Cathy, Marjorie, Peggy and Jean Joslyn, all of Rome, his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lighthall Sr., Oneida, and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held Thursday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Oneida.
