Streun, John Frederick

John Streun, aged 55, died in a local hospital at 12:35 o'clock this afternoon. He was taken to the hospital June 6, suffering with pneumonia. Mr. Streun was born in Switzerland but had lived in this city since infancy. In Rome, 23 years ago he married Inez Cook, who survives, with the following children: Zadie, Arlita, Gladys, Louis, and Kenneth. He also leaves two brothers, Seymour of Ava and Edward of this city, and one sister, Miss Mary Streun of Butte, Montana. Mrs. Streun at present is ill in bed and the news of her husbands death came as a great shock, as it was thought that he would recover. Mr. Streun was an industrious man who was well liked by all who knew him.

Kenneth H. Streun, 71, of 419 W. Dominick St., a former employee of the city Department of Public Works, died Monday, May 16, 1983, in Rome Hospital after a long illness. Mr. Streun had previously been employed by the former Baynes Coal Co., Griffiss Air Force Base, and Rome Cable Corp. Born on May 6, 1912, he was the son of John Frederick and Inez Cook Streun. Surviving are 12 nieces and one nephew. Services will be held Wednesday at the Strong Funeral Home with Burial in West Verona Cemetery.

Louis S. Streun, 67, of 4939 Oswego Road, died Tuesday in Rome Hospital after a long illness. Born July 18, 1907 in Taberg, he was the son of J. Frederick and Inez Cook Streun. He resided in the area all his life and attended area schools. He married the former Louise Bronner August 20, 1955, in Durhamville. Mr. Streun worked for the Oneida City Water Dept., and before his retirement in 1956 was employed by Sperry Rand Corp. He was a Methodist. Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Mary) Ortman, Sylvan Beach, and Miss Lois Streun, at home, two stepdaughters, Mrs. Anthony (Rosemary) Mascari and Mrs. Richard (Sally) Doherty, both of Canastota, three step-sons, Robert Chafee of Solvay, Willian Chafee of Chittenango, and Donald Chafee of Oneida, a sister, Mrs. Harry (Zadie) Lighthall, Oneida, a brother, Kenneth Streun, Rome, and 10 grandchildren. Funeral will be Friday, burial in West Verona Cemetery.

The funeral of the infant daughter of Mr. &Mrs. Fred Streun, corner of Elm and Unin Streets, who died Saturday, was held this afternoon. Burial was made in Lee Valley Cemetery.
Sweatman, Ella B. Louer

Mrs. Ella B. Sweatman, 61, of Churchville, died last night in Oneida City Hospital after a short illness. She was born August 19, 1894, in Taberg, a daughter of Adelbert and Sarah Cook Lauer. On Nov. 12, 1912 she was married to Gaylord V. Sweatman in Taberg. The couple had resided in Churchville for 25 years. Mrs. Sweatman was of the Methodist faith. Survivors are her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Elwin E. Waterman, of the same address, two brothers, Harry Lauer, Taberg, and Harold Lauer, Blossvale, and two grandchildren, Elwin E. and Donna M. Waterman. Funeral will be held at the Griffin & Aldridge Funeral Home. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Taberg.
