Kemerline, Frances Flagg

Mrs. Frances Flagg Kemerline, widow of Louis Kemerline, died June 21, 1944, in the home of her son, Louis H. Kemerline, 112 Grove, after a week's illness. She was born in Taberg, Aug 2, 1861, daughter of the late James and Harriett Crossman Flagg. She received her education in Taberg and was married in Utica. Her husband died 52 years ago. She was a member of Central Methodist Episcopal Church. Surviving are a son, Louis H. Kemerline, a brother, Emery Flagg, Rome, four nieces and one nephew.

Marcy - Lewis N. Kemerline died in Binghamton. The funeral was held at the M. E. Church January 26. He was a former resident of Marcy and a veteran of the late war. He leaves a wife and child.

Louis H.Kimlien, 73, 112 Grove Pl., a baker employed in several local bakeries, died in his home yesterday. Born in New Hartford, he moved to Utica with his family at age 3 and was educated in Utica schools. Mr. Kimlien married Bertha Spaulding in 1909. For ten years he was employed as a knitter with Fort Schuyler Knitting Co., A member of Central Methodist Church, Mr. Kimlien leaves his wife. The funeral will be conducted Friday at time to be announced from the GORDON Friedel Funeral Home. The Rev. William C. Wood will officiate. Burial will be in Maynard Cemetery, Marcy.


Kessler, Elizabeth Stratton

Mrs. George E. Kessler, 76, of 721 Croton St., a life-long resident of Rome, died today in the Rome Nursing Home after an illness of two months. The former Elizabeth S. Stratton, she was born March 24, 1895, in Rome, daughter of Julius and Minnie Wilkinson Stratton. She and Mr. Kessler were married June 28, 1916, in Hamilton by the Rev. George Sheppard. Mrs. Kessler was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and the Lake Delta Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, of which she was a past matron. Surviving are her husband, three daughters, Mrs. George (Betty) Maycock of Wampsville, Mrs. Kathryn Vinneau, Oneida, and Mrs. Robert (Dorothy) Henry of Floyd, two brothers, Donald Stratton of Rome and Westley Stratton of Largo, Florida, seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at her home on Croton Street on Saturday at 2 pm with the Rev. Lloyd Tanner officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers those wishing to do so donate to the Calvary Methodist Church Memorial Fund.


Kessler, George

George E. Kessler, 93, formerly of 721 Croton St., a retired employee of Rome Manufacturing Division of Revere Copper and Brass, Inc. died Thursday at the Rome Parkway Nursing Home following a long illness. Born April 27, 1885 in West Leyden, he was the son of Jacob and Katherine Rimiller Kessler. On June 28, 1916, he married Elizabeth Stratton, in Hamilton. Mrs. Kessler died Feb. 10, 1972. Mr. Kessler, who was a Protestant, worked at Rome Manufacturing for about 30 years, retiring in 1957. He was a member of the Rome Odd Fellows. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. George (Betty) Maycock, Wampsville, and Mrs. Robert T. (Dorothy) Henry, Floyd; seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Another daughter, Mrs. Kathryn Rouse, died May 26, 1974. Private services were held at the convenience of the family. Burial was in Rome Cemetery.


Korber, Mary Elizabeth Stratton Adams Hawley

Mary Elizabeth Stratton, 74, died yesterday morning at the home of her niece, Mrs. George Kessler, 721 Croton St., where she had lived for the past 15 months, coming there from Whitesboro. She was born in Taberg, Aug. 4, 1870, daughter of Philos and Nancy Crossman Stratton. She was twice married, first to George Adams on Sept 12, 1889, at Clinton. He died June 30, 1922. She was then married in Rome on Sept. 20, 1928, to Frank Korber, who died on May 11, 1943. She was a member of the Methodist Church, Clinton. Besides Mrs. Kessler, she is survived by two brothers, David and William Stratton, both of Rome, two nephews, Wesley Stratton, Clinton and Donald Stratton, Rome.
