George J. Bennett, 51, RD 2, Daley Road, Rome, died Monday in Rome Hospital after a brief illness. A native of Oriskany, he was born April 20, 1914, son of George H. and Marion C. Foley Bennett, and attended Rome schools. On Sept. 30, 1934, in Taberg, he married Bertha Armstrong. Mr. Bennett, an employee of Revere Copper and Brass Inc. for 31 years, was a member of Christian Missionary Alliance Church, Clarke Mills. He was also a member of Hempton Lodge F & AM, Westmoreland, Owis Club of Oneida, Ft. Stanwix Pistol Club, Revere Athletic Assn, and MESA Union. Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Arlene) Zimmer, Ninilchik, five sisters, Mrs. Robert (Lillian) Westboe, Mrs. Marino (Gladys) Romoli Jr., and Mrs. Pasquale (Dorothy) Amuso, all of Rome, Mrs. Charles (Rena) Emerson, Lowville and Mrs. George (Betty) Merlinger, Utica, three brothers, William J. and Francis Bennett, Rome and Joseph A., Lee Center, and an aunt, Mrs. Belle Richardson, Verona. Funeral services will be Thursday at the Martin J. Nunn Funeral Home. Interment in Rome Cemetery.
