Walter J. Bork, 76, of 803 Erie Blvd W., died at 4 pm Sunday in the Rome Hospital following a short illness. He was a crane operator for the Federal Creosoting Co. until his retirement in 1957 when the local plant closed. He had also worked for the American Can Co. Mr. Bork was born in the Town of Lee on Jan. 3, 1888, son of Marshall and Anna Bower Bork. In Syracuse on Oct. 28, 1925, he and the former Frances Myrtle Mansfield were married by the Rev. Arthur Moody. She survives with a son, James W. Bork, Town of Lee, a sister, Mrs. Clara Bornt, Union Springs, and five grandchildren, Kathleen, Terrance, Deborah, Sandra and Lorraine, Town of Lee. Mr. Bork, who had lived in Rome since 1925, attended Calvary Methodist Church and was a member of the Modern Woodsmen of America. Funeral services will be held at 2 Wednesday at the Griffin & Aldridge Funeral Home with the Rev. L. Alden Smith, Calvary Methodist pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery.
