Sylvan Beach - Orville A. Brown died this morning in the Oneida City Hospital after a short illness. He was born April 18, 1893 at Fish Creek Landing, town of Vienna, son of Albert & Dora Mansfield Brown. He married Mina McClanathan on Nov. 24, 1915 at the McClanathan homestead at Sylvan Beach. Mr. Brown was a member of Vienna Lodge, F & AM, was former State Trooper, and at the time of his death was a deputy sheriff, a position he had held for the past 30 yrs, the last 25 of which had been for the town of Vienna. During WW II he served as a civilian guard at Griffiss AFB. Surviving are his wife; six daughters, Mrs. Warren Janes, Durhamville, Mrs. Kenneth Armstrong, Mrs. Edwin Snow, both of Sylvan Beach, Mrs. Donald Babcock, Camden, Mrs. John D. Royce, Vienna, Mrs. Francis Roseman, Fish Creek Landing, four sons, Francis O., Oneida, Albert F., Donald K., and Lee Carl all of Sylvan Beach, 36 grandchildren, one great-grandson, one brother, David Brown, Vienna, two sisters, Mrs. Leland Loomis, Vienna, and Mrs. Earl Kent, Canastota; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 o'clock at his late home with burial in the North Bay Cemetery.
