September 29, 1995Gail Anthony "Tony" Carpenter, 54, of 7628 Tannery Road, died Thursday, Sept. 28, 1995, at his home after a long illness.
He was born Jan. 24, 1941 in Rome, to Melvin Cyrus and Stasia Smith Carpenter. He attended Rome schools and served in the U. S. Army. He worked at Rome State School from 1964 to 1980 when he moved to Cleburne, Texas, returning to Rome in 1984.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Mark Todd and Tessie Carpenter of Florence, one sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Alfred Eastup of Rome, five brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward of McConnellsville, Richard and Rita of Lee Center, Joe and Diane of Rome, Denny and Sandy of Verona Beach, and Butch and Pat of Rome, three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Prince-Boyd & Hyatt Home for Funerals Monday at 9:30 am, and 10:30 at Holy Cross Church, New London. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery.
