Charles B. Connor, 208 W. Bloomfield St., passed away this morning in his home. Mr. Connor had been in failing health for the past five years but his death was very sudden. He was born in White Plains and came to Rome when 16 years old. Mr. Connor was employed in the signal system of the New York Central, later operating his own trucking business. He then went into partnership with his brother-in-law, W. O. Hughes Coal Co. from which he retired in 1959, selling the business to Nolan Hayes Fuels. He was twice married, his first wife being Grace Hughes. She died in 1933. On Nov. 16, 1935, in Suffern, NY, he married Ruth F. Armstrong, the Rev. O'Dale King, DD, officiating. He was the last of a family of seven. Mrs. Connor survives with several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be Saturday at the Prince & Boyd Funeral Home with the Rev. Jennings B. Reid, DD, First Presbyterian Church pastor officiating. Interment will be in the Rome Cemetery.
