Kent, Laura McLaughlin

September 30, 2004Laura E. Kent of Camden passed away on September 28, 2004 with her family by her side. Born January 12, 1918, she was the daughter of Arthur and Grace Swanson McLaughlin. A 1938 graduate of Camden High School, Laura attended the Crane School of Music in Potsdam, New York.
She married Lawrence A. Kent in 1938 in Camden, He died in 1963.
Retiring from Mystic Stamp Company in 1988, she had also been previously employed at Camden Middle School, and the Eileen Shop in Camden. A gifted pianist and singer, Laura had also performed with the Ted Mellon Dance Band.
Laura was a member of the United Church (Presbyterian) of Camden.
Devoting her life to her family and friends, Laura was a second mom to many kids who spent time with her boys at the Kent camp on Panther Lake. She is a very special Grandma Laura to Samantha and also Queen of her beloved YaYas. Laura was the first recipient of the Irish Rose Award at Camden's St. Patricks Day parade in 2003.
Surviving are four sons and two daughters-in-law, Nigel and Debbie Kent, Camden, Rodney and Kathy Kent, Oneida, Vann Kent, Rome and Hal Kent, Camden, one sister Agnes Crego, Camden, and nine grandchildren, Lisa and Rick Sloper, Avram and Suzanne Kent, Bryce and Mary Kent, Kristin Kent, Izaak Kent, Geoffrey Kent, Jesse Kent, Michael Kent, Elliot Kent, as well as two great-grandchildren, Aaron and Chelsea Sloper. She was predeceased by her eldest son, Geoffrey A. Kent.
