Mathilda Leffert, 99, of 800 W. Chestnut Street, died Saturday, September 2, 2000 at Bethany House. Born September 8, 1900 in Darstleten, Switzerland, she was a daughter of David and Caroline Tschabold Pfund. She came to the United States in 1910 and on January 25, 1921 she was united in marriage to Frank W. Leffert Sr. at Trinity United Church of christ. Mr. Leffert died March 7, 1971. She was the oldest member of Trinity United Church of Christ. Mathilda was the last surviving charter member and a past president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was a past president of the Oneida COunty Council VFW, a life member of the National Home of the VFW, a member of the Veteran's of World War I Auxiliary and the Ava Dorfman Senior Citizen's Center.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Donald Joanis, Rome, a son, Frank W. Leffert Jr., Collinsville, Ill, eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and Millie Leffert. She was predeceased by a daughter, Genevieve, a son, David, and a sister, Helene Regetz.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery.
