Samuel O'Dell, 70, of Rome-Westmoreland Road, an employee of the county Highway Department until his retirement in 1972, died Tuesday in Rome Hospital after a long illness. Born Feb. 11, 1907 in Delta Village, Town of Western, he was the son of Levi & Julia Damuth O'Dell. On June 7, 1931 he married Alice Armstrong in Camden. Educated in Westmoreland schools he also lived in Verona and for the past 51 years in Rome. He worked for a number of years for the Town of Westmoreland Highway Department. Mr. O'Dell was a member of the United Methodist Church, Westmoreland. Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Ruth) Meacham and Mrs. Gordon (Doris) Sprague, both of Rome, three brothers, Leon O'Dell, Garry O'Dell and John O'Dell, all of Rome, and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday of the Martin J. Nunn Funeral Home. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
