Services for John Cobb, South Ridge Road farmer, who died Tuesday evening at the Hospital of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, will be conducted at 1 pm Friday at the home and in the Richland Methodist Church at 2 pm, Rev. Donald Cobb officiating. Burial will be in Richland in the spring.
Mr. Cobb had been in poor health several months but was confined to bed less than a week. Born in Pineville Nov. 3, 1876, the son of William and Emma Bentley Cobb, he moved to the Ridge Road with his family as a child and in 1925 bought his home from the Jamerson estate. On Jan. 9, 1901 he married Miss Mary Tillapaugh, daughter of Frederick and Mary Tillapaugh, town of Albion. A progressive farmer, he devoted his last few years to truck gardening, in addition to maintaining a large dairy farm. he was active in community affairs and was trustee of his school district many years. He was a member of the Sandy Creek grange and belonged to the Richland chapter IOOF, 45 years. he was also affiliated with the Richland Rebekah Lodge. Surviving besides his wife are four sons, Winfield of Belleville, William and Walter of Lacona, and Warren Cobb of central Square; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Foster Thomas of Orwell.

Mrs. Mary T. Cobb, 66, widow of John Cobb, died Sunday afternoon in the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, where she had been a patient since May 6. Death is attributed to a cerebral hemorrhage. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 pm from the home on the Ridge road, Richland, and at 2:30 pm from the Richland Methodist Church, with Rev. Robert Towsam, pastor, officiating. Surviving are four sons, Winfield of Belleville, William, Lacona, Warren, central Square, and Walter, Lacona, a sister, Mrs. Amy Barrows, Syracuse, a brother, Morgan Tillapaugh, Caughdenoy, six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Mrs. Cobb was born September 2, 1881 in the town of Albion, a daughter of Fredrick and Nancy Tillapaugh. She resided in Sandy Creek in her early girlhood and was educated at Mexico. on Jan. 9, 1901 she was married to John Cobb, son of William & emma Bentley Cobb. After their marriage they established a home on the South Ridge Road toward Lacona, where they operated a farm. Mr. Cobb died Feb. 19, 1946.
