Ava Quaker Cemetery

This cemetery is on the north side of the West Ava Road in the town of Ava. In addition to the one inscribed stone there is one field stone face down and a small pile of three upright stones with no inscriptions. According to an undated DAR listing this is an old Quaker Cemetery containing as many as 50 graves marked only by a field stone at the head and foot of each grave. At the time this listing was done by the DAR there was one transcription and no tombstone for Nat Foster although the listing made mention of his burial here and plans to erect a stone. His stone was erected at a later date by his descendants. A note on the bottom of the listing says "stone erected" but no date. This cemetery was copied by Virginia Ackerman on September 30, 1999.

from DAR listing:

Here rests the body of Luke Harger, the first settler of Ava (no dates given)
