BERGEN was taken from the Town of Murray (which was divided
into three Towns) on April 2, 1813. Bergen was incorporated March 5, 1877
and is the second smallest town in Genesee County. In its early days of settlement,
Bergen was called Northwoods.
Hamlets of Bergen are Stone Church, West Bergen, North Bergen, East Bergen,
Jericho Corners, Little Boston, West Sweden and Sheepskin Corners.
