Gilgal Cemetery - Presbyterian Church - Tradition tells us that the first grave was that of a man found dead apparently a victim of an Indian.  The body was buried where it was found.  Other interments were made beside it, and this was the beginning of the present cemetery.  The original burial ground included two and three fourths acres.  In 1879, a purchase of ground from Mr. James Ayres for sixty-three dollars and two and a half cents increased the size to six acres.  One section of the cemetery is called the “Ayres” section and that is where the Ayres in the listing for this cemetery are buried. A-CD-LM-RS-VW-ZPhotos
