Services were held Monday afternoon for Estes Earl Duncan, 70, a native and life-long resident of Cumberland. Mr. Duncan was born Nov. 4, 1923. He died Friday morning at his Cumberland home.
Wesley Mitchell, pastor officiated for services at Cumberland Baptist Church where Mr. Duncan was a member. Music was arranged by A.B. Eddington. Burial was in the Cumberland Cemetery.
Mr. Duncan and Burtle Long were married May 4, 1942, at Timberhill. He was employed 30 years with the Soil Conservation Service, retiring as equipment manager.
Other that his wife, Mr. Duncan is survived by a son Danny Duncan; two daughters, Joan Shirley of Fayetteville, Ga., and Martha Ann Higgins of The Colony, Tex., six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Casket escorts for services and interment were Neil Duncan, Ronnie and Donnie Hartin, Don Addison, Keith Long and Bobby Holmes. Honorary escorts were Alvin Long, Calvin Hartley, Bill Self, Raymond Eddington, Hank Hartin and Otis Thompson
Service arrangements were under the direction of Watts Funeral Home.
