J.C. LONG DIES MONDAY, FUNERAL HELD WEDNESDAY

J.C. Long, an Aylesworth native and life-long Marshall County resident, died Monday. He was 67 years old. Funeral services for Mr. Long were conducted Wednesday afternoon from Watts Memorial Chapel. Emmett Taylor, pastor with the Madill Church of the Nazarene where Mr. Long was a member, officiated. He was assisted by Wesley Mitchell. Music was arranged by Cliff West.
Mr Long was born Oct. 5, 1914. His parents were the late John Churchwell and Dora Francis Long. He was reared in the Aylesworth area and was a resident of Cumberland at the time of his death which followed a brief illness.
He and the former Bernice Setliff were married Oct. 10 1937, at Kingston. Mr. Long was employed with Lone Star Gas Co. 30 years. For the past nine years he had worked as a contract pumper.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Long is survived by two sons, Johnny of Tulsa and Charles Long of Virginia Beach, Va., and three daughters, Nora Pool of Bethune, Colo., Kay Beasley of Madill and Carolyn Turbyfill of Choctaw.
Also surviving are 16 grandchildren; two brothers, Albert of Ardmore and Alvin Long of Cumberland and two sisters, Wilma Soliday of Madill and Burtle Duncan of Cumberland.
Casket escorts for services and burial in the Cumberland Cemetery were Victor and Phillip Gray, John Rorex, Vernon Ard, Vernon Maxwell and Cleo Sandefur. Honorary escorts were Curtis Wyatt, Chester Gilbert and Raymond Eddington.

Helen Berniece Long Carroll 

MADILL-- Funeral services for Helen Berniece Long Carroll, 80, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Watts Memorial Chapel. Interment will be at Cumberland Cemetery.
Born August 28, 1923 in Cumberland to Benjamine Jesse and Stella Irene Maddox Setliff, Mrs. Carroll died Sat., Nov. 29 in Madill. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband JC Long; and one brother Jesse Delbert Setliff.
Mrs. Carroll was reared in Cumberland and moved to Aylesworth where she lived from 1923 to 1937. She married JC Long December 10, 1937 in Kingston and he preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 1982. She worked at Sharp's and Trammels Department stores for several years and later worked as the Deputy County Clerk before she retired. She was a member of the First Nazarene Church in Madill.
She later married Arthur Glenn Carroll on Aug. 26, 1999 in Madill.
She is survived by her husband, of the home; her children Johnney Long, Tulsa, Cpt. Charles Long, Chesapeake, Va., Nora Poole, Bethune, Col., Kay Beasley, Kingston, Carolyn Turbyfill, Choctaw, Johnny Carroll, Oologah, Lou Anna Egan, Madill; 19 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tony Long, John Charles Long, David Poole, Rod Turbyfill, Eddy Beasley and Gary Young.
