George Washington McAdoo & Arlena Lucinda (Keck) McAdoo @ 1903

Arlena Lucinda Keck was born February 10, 1867 in Valley Township, Madison Co., Arkansas. At the age of 17 she married 22 year old George Washington McAdoo March 9, 1884 in Paris, Logan Co., Arkansas; son of Elijah McAdoo and Elizabeth Scribner. born February 14, 1862 in (poss.) Taney Co., Missouri. George was shot and killed  November 27, 1922 in Lark, Marshall Co., Oklahoma. Arlena died May 29, 1950 in Marshall Co., Oklahoma.

Curtis McAdoo, born January 29, 1885 in Arkansas; died January 29, 1885 in Arkansas.

Melvina Mae McAdoo, was born May 17, 1887 in Logan Co., Arkansas, and died July 14, 1961 in Atwater, Merced Co., California.  She married Abner Nathan Daugherty April 8, 1906 in Pickens Co.,   Indian Territory, son of James Daugherty and Roseavelt Smith.  He was born April 17, 1882 in Kentucky, and died September 17, 1955 in Atwater, Merced Co., California. Ab and Malvina had 12 children. They moved out to California during the depression.  Both are buried at the Winton Cemetery, Merced Co., California

Benjamin Everett McAdoo, was born May 30, 1890 in Paris, Logan Co., Arkansas, and died July 5, 1964 in Tishomingo, Johnson Co., Oklahoma.  He married Laura Ludelia Smith December 25, 1912 in Kingston, Marshall Co.,  Oklahoma, daughter of Robert Smith and Sarah Kemp.  She was born December 23, 1887 in Lawrenceville, Georgia, and died November 29, 1971 in Madill, Marshall Co., Oklahoma.  Everett and Laura had 4 children.  (Roy Everett, the oldest son, was the elementary school principal when my sister and I were in elementary school.  We thought it was pretty cool that the principal was our cousin.) Everett and Laura are buried at the Kingston Cemetery in Kingston, Marshall Co., Oklahoma.

Edna Sarah McAdoo, born December 6, 1892 in Logan Co., Arkansas; died October 30, 1980 in Madill, Marshall Co., Oklahoma. She married George Lee Higgins August 17, 1919 in Willis, Marshall Co., Oklahoma; born July 25, 1891 in Stratford, Indian Territory; died September 11, 1968 in Marshall Co., Oklahoma.

 Elijah Gray McAdoo I, was born August 4, 1894 in Logan Co,.   Arkansas, and died January 5, 1986 in Denison, Grayson Co., Texas.  He married Gerushia Mae Green November 1, 1916 in Oakland, Marshall Co., Oklahoma, daughter of David Green and Delie Smith.  She was born September 12, 1896 in Bartlesville, Indian Territory, and died January 8, 1982 in Denison, Grayson Co., Texas.

Effie Sullar McAdoo, born October 6, 1895 in Logan Co., Arkansas; died October 14, 1979 in Madill, Marshall Co., Oklahoma [never married].

 

Elizabeth 'Lizzie' Nancy McAdoo, was born October 19, 1898 in Logan CO.,  Arkansas, and died January 1, 1982 in Fort Worth,  Tarrant Co., Texas.  She married Clarence Anderson Wallace May 26, 1918 in Shay, Marshall Co.,  Oklahoma, son of Edward Wallace and Ophelia Martin.  He was born July 5, 1896 in Powell,  Indian Territory, and died March 5, 1975 in Sherman, Grayson Co., Texas. Lizzie and Clarence had 4 children, only one who lived to marry and have children. (Clarence was a twin to Clyde Wallace who was married to Virgie, making Virgie and Lizzie's children double cousins.)

Jimmie McAdoo, born May 18, 1900 in Pickens Co., Indian Territory; died June 3, 1900 in Pickens Co., Indian Territory.

William George McKinley McAdoo, was born April 12, 1901 in Pickens Co.,   Indian Territory, and died June 21, 1963 in Fort Supply, Woodward Co., Oklahoma.  He married Ella Lee Atteberry 1919, daughter of R.J. Atteberry and Susan Stevens.  She was born February 18, 1903 in Hunt Co., Texas.  (Ella Lee Atteberry was also my cousin on my mother's side of the family, their son's were our double cousins)

Virgie Cordelia McAdoo, was born November 6, 1902 in Pickens Co.,   Indian Territory, and died November 17, 1967 in Ardmore, Carter Co., Oklahoma.  She married Clyde Alexander Wallace November 30, 1919 in Shay, Marshall Co.,  Oklahoma, son of Edward Wallace and Ophelia Martin.  He was born July 6, 1896 in Pickens Co.,   Indian Territory, and died June 15, 1973 in Madill, Marshall Co.,  Oklahoma. (Clyde was a twin to Clarence Wallace who was married to Lizzie, making Lizzie and Virgie's children double cousins)

Jessie Lee McAdoo, (my grandmother) was born August 2, 1904 in the Chickasaw Nation, Pickens Co., Indian Territory, and died March 19, 1978 in Madill, Marshall Co., Oklahoma.  She married Frank Earl Dice July 29, 1927 in Powell, Marshall Co., Oklahoma, son of James Dice and Anna McClanahan.  He was born September 15, 1903 in Hill Co.,  Texas, and died July 16, 1978 in Madill, Marshall Co., Oklahoma.

Claude H. McAdoo, born September 8, 1906 in The Chickasaw Nation, Pickens Co., Indian Territory; died September 13, 1927 in Oakland, Marshall Co., Oklahoma. Claudie died at the age of 21 of Typhoid Fever.  He is said to have been buried at the Oakland Cemetery in between his parents. There is no headstone or marker and there is now an alley way between George and Arlena McAdoo. From 1927 to 1931, in Oklahoma, 1,685 persons died of Typhoid Fever.

Ida McAdoo, born September 14, 1908 in Marshall Co., Oklahoma; died September 14, 1908 in Marshall Co., Oklahoma.
