for Chant & Paddon, Plymouth and registered
at Plymouth (PH 8).
171grt; 68nrt; 55hp engines;
Requisitioned in Nov 1914
Fitted with 1 x 6pdr armament, under Admiralty
Nr 922.
She was returned in November 1915,
and sold shortly afterwards to W. Walker,
Aberdeen and registered (A 619).
She was then requisitioned for Fishery Reserve 29th
May 1917.
In December of 1917,
she struck a mine which had been laid by U 71,
in the North Sea, off the Shetlands.
AMADAVAT sank with all hands.
Casualties are listed on different dates – on
the 10th and on the 12th December 1917.
Despite being mercantile, she apparently had
two RNR crew, one was the skipper.
CWGC records her as being HMT Amadavat.
