1842 Tithe Map of Penzance

This map was rescued from a very wet attic,

amongst many other damaged office drawing files,

and it was covered in mould growth of varying types;

the linen backing had almost rotted away,

the wooden rolls were full of wet rot.

It was a choice of rescuing what was possible

or throwing away a major piece of history.

This is an original,  not a later copy.

The map was trimmed down, carefully cleaned and allowed to dry flat.

That was 25 years ago.

I hope to be able to eventually transcribe the Apportionments,

but I am in a postion to be able to answer any queries.

 

The original is to be deposited with Cornwall Record Office.
