Annie Turcotte Usually the last name to be read of the 14 women who were killed Dec. 6, 1989, during a rampage at the University of Montreal's Ecole polytechnique school of engineering. But still number one with those that were fortunate enough to know her. - Annie Turcotte, 21, of Granby, Que., was in her first year studying Engineering Materials. She lived with her brother in a small apartment near the university. She was described as gentle and athletic - she was a diver and a swimmer. She went into engineering so she could one day help improve the environment. Late afternoon, Dec. 6, 1989, at l'Ecole polytechnique, the University of Montreal's engineering school. Marc Lepine, 25, armed with a Sturm Ruger Mini-14 semi-automatic assault rifle, knives and bandoliers of ammunition. Lepine ranted during his rampage that feminists had ruined his life. 14 women were killed, and 13 others wounded.
