Chili Con Carne

3 tablespoons fat
1 large onion (chopped)
1 green pepper (chopped)
1 pound ground beef
2 1/2 cups tomatoes
1 can condensed tomato soup
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 bay leaf
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 clove garlic (mashed)
1 teaspoon salt
1 large can red kidney beans


Makes 6 servings.
Heat fat in large skillet.
Add onion, green pepper, and meat.
Cook till brown.
Add next six ingredients.
Cover.

Simmer about 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
Add water if too thick.

Combine garlic and salt.
Add garlic mixture, and beans to meat mixture.

Stir well.
Heat to boiling.

Pour in large bowl, garnish with onion rings.

Great old family recipe from an old family friend. A great comfort food for groups, or the freezer. Our families spent many great times breaking bread over a bowl of chili.
