ELLINOR FARM HOME
These were passed along through "the kindness of strangers",
namely Nancy Meech, who is treasurer of the Kings County Historical Society.
Nancy very generously took over the job of passing on to me the
information on the Home held at the Kings County Historical Museum
(Hampton, NB). These records were given to her to make and send copies to me
by Faye Pearson, secretary of the society and curator of the museum.

Also, from John Sayers--typed extract from a letter...from Ellinor Home
Farm in August (believe in 1907), in part it reads:
`Sophie GREEN (Child #26--Not listed above!) is a different being to
what she was last year, quite fat now, and very proud of her personal
appearance, especially of a white muslin hat she wears for Church on
Sundays, - poor child, what a contrast to the cringing starved little
creature she was only a year ago. (Sophie, now 14, used to support her
disreputable mother by lighting fires for the Jews in the East End at
a farthing each.)'
and:
`Little Dick aged 6 and John(I believe these to be Dick - also called
George - HAYNES and his brother John - also called Harry - HAYNES who
were two of the three children who came out in March 1907) were only
sent here just in time, they were terribly emaciated ........ Dickie
is such an attractive child, wonderfully pretty, and a great favourite
at the picnics to which the children are being constantly invited, they
have been to three since I came out.'
and:
`Arthur OSBORNE, the boy the Duke of Bedford is paying for, is top of
his class, he was particularly dull and stupid for the first three months,
and is now one of the cleverest boys in the school.'
There is also a record for Robert MILLER who came out on the Siberian
from Liverpool 7 June 1909, it looks as though he came from Force? Hall,
Hale End, Woodford, Essex through the Children's Farm Home Association,
101 Eaton Square, London. At the bottom of the page is: `is of a desirable
class and I hereby certify that the above named child has been duly placed
on board the SS Siberian in charge of the Purser, Mr. James Barclay.
Liverpool, June 7th. 1909 - (Signed) A.F. Jury')
