Stanek


Father Samuel Stanek, 59, Cedar Lake, Ind,, died unexpectedly Friday morning in Burnham, Ill. He was born in Chicago, Ill., Feb. 19, 1920. He graduated from St. Bonaventure Minor Seminary in Sturtevant in June 1938. He was invested with the Franciscan habit the following August 14 and pronounced his solemn vows on Aug. 15, 1942. Having completed his studies at St. Francis College, Burlington, Wis., and theological training at Lourdes Friary, Cedar Lake, Ind., and St. Mary of the Angels Friary in Green Bay, Father Stanek was ordained to the priesthood on June 15, 1946 by Bishop Stanislaus Bona. He was first assigned to parishes in Toledo, Ohio. In 1954, he was appointed provincial vocations director working out the the Franciscan Friary in Sturtevant. In 1956, he also assumed the duties of assist-ant director of the CYO summer camp for boys in Libertyville, Ill. In 1957 he was appointed director of the camp and promoter of publications while continuing his work as director of vocations. From 1959 to 1966 Father Stanek served as superior at friary in Ben Avon, Pa., then in Sturtevant. After 1966, he resided at Lourdes Friary, Cedar Lake, Ind.
He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Edward Bobinski, Miss Frances Stanek and Mrs. Steve Ziarko, all of Chicago, Ill.
The funeral was held Monday at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Chicago, Ill., and will be held this morning at Mother of God Church, Burnham, Ill. His body will then be transferred to Assumption Friary, Pulaski. A reception and vigil prayer service will be held 7:30 this evening. A community funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Assumption Friary, Pulaski. Burial will be in the provincial cemetery.


Ziesmer


Visitation for Merval E. Ziesmer will be after 4 p.m. today at Blaney Funeral Home. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. George Krempin officiating. Burial will be in Fort Howard Cemetery.

Salutz


Rev. Gustav P. Salutz, 0. Praem., 67, of St. Norbert Abbey, died Sunday after an ex- tended illness. He was born Nov. 23, 1912 in Reedsburg, Wis., to Leo and Ella Salutz. He attended Reedsburg Grade School, Valders High School and St. Norbert College before entering the Norbertine Order on August 28, 1940. He made his solemn profession on Aug. 28, 1945 and was ordained a priest on June 15, 1946. He served twice as Prefect at St. Norbert High School and was instructor at Southeast Catholic High School, Philadelphia, from 1943 to 1958. He continued as instructor at Premontre High School from 1958 to 1967, after which time he also served at St. John the Evangelist Parish, Essexville, Mich., St. Mary Parish, Chester, Mont., and St. Joseph Parish (Champion) New Franken. In recent years, Rev. Salutz served as chaplain at St. Joseph Academy and Our Lady of Charity Monastery in Green Bay.
He is survived by six brothers, William, Green Bay, Leo, Clinton, Iowa, John, Belleville, Mich., Florian, Bremen, Ohio, Lawrence, Manitowoc, Robert, Merrill; three sisters, Mrs. Wilfred (Ann) Schuh, Mrs. Robert (Veronica) Johnson and Mrs. James (Carmel) Vreeke, all of Manitowoc. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The reception of the body and vespers of the dead will be held 7:30 p.m. today at St. Norbert Abbey, De Pere. The mass of the resurrection will be celebrated by the Rt. Rev. Jerome Tremel, 0. Praem., and concelebrants 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. Rev. Benjamin Mackin, 0. Praem., will be the homilist. The body will lie in state in the Abbey Church through Wednesday.


Jensen


Alfred J. Jensen, 78,1148 Liberty St., died Monday morning in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 12,1901 in Bismarck, N.D. He was a member of Gideon's International, a charter member of the Bethel Baptist Church and a member of the Bricklayers' Local No. 3.
He is survived by his wife, the former Emma Stanton; one son and daughter-in-law, Vernon and Marilyn Jensen of Madison; three granddaughters, Mrs. Dan (Linda) Morrison, Susan and Amy Jensen, all from Madison; one grandson, Jared Morrison, Green Bay; two sisters, Mrs. Mae Sorenson, Wilton, N.D., Mrs. Leslie (Goldie) Keeley of Portage, Mich.; two sisters-in-law, Mrs, Ivar (Pearl) Engan, Green Bay, Mrs. Arthur (Myrtle) Jensen of Kalamazoo, Mich., and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
Friends may call at the Blaney Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Wednesday and the funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Urcavich officiating. Burial in Fort Howard Cemetery.


De Lair


Francis D. DeLair, 66, 1281 Elm St., died unexpectedly Monday morning. He was born Dec. 21, 1913 and was a lifelong Green Bay resident. Mr. DeLair was a veteran of World War 11 and he retired as an employee of the city of Green Bay.
He is survived by one son, Daniel, Green Bay; two daughters, Sandy Henry, Washington, D.C., Lynn, Green Bay; four grandchildren; one brother, Bernard DeLair, De Pere; one sister, Mrs. John (Alice) Svejda, Green Bay; nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Schauer and Schumacher East Side Funeral Home after 4 p.m. today. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Allouez Cemetery.

Mrs. Earl (Theodora) Baierl, 77, 513 Ethel St., died Monday at a local nursing home. Schauer and Schumacher West Side Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements which will be announced.
