McPherson Joseph H, born York 1840, was sergeant and 2nd Lieutenant 5th NY Calvary, was wounded at Stevenburgh, Va. Oct. 1863 and died in Washington a few days afterwards, was in sixteen battles with 5th NY Cavalry, is buried in the cemetery in Avon.
