A few other names have been mentioned, such as John Cornis, (Cornell or Cornelis), Robert Dean, John Roads, William Thorn, and Richard Willetts; but we are not sure of the dates.Born. At least ten of these men can be traced from Yorkshire, England. A much larger number doubless came from that large county. So many were from Yorkshire, that the settlement was characterized as a Yorkshire one. One of their difficulties we cannot readily appreciate, nor could the Dutch. At that date the provincial dialect of Yorkshire was so strange, that other Englishmen could not understand their common language.
