L. B. Dean Rites To Be Held Here This Afternoon

Funeral services for Letcher B. Dean, 73, founder of the Arp Nursery Company, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Burke-Walker-Tippit Funeral Home with the Rev. William Thresto of Overton, retired Methodist minister, and the Rev. Bruse Krause, associate minister of Marvin Methodist Church, officiating.
Mr. Dean died Friday in a Tyler hospital after a long illness. He was a native of Bluff Springs, Fla., and had lived in Smith County for 50 years. He moved from Arp to Tyler in 1931.
Mr. Dean held memberships in the Texas, the regional and the American associations of nurserymen and was a charter member of the Texas Rose Research Foundation.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Addie Lee Dean; three sons, L. A. (Slick) Dean of Tyler, Osmen Bonner of Blossom and James D. Menefee of Pittsburg; two daughters, Mrs. LaNelle Dean Kidd of Tyler and Mrs. Ray Stubbs of California; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Noel Roach, Merle Balch, M. H. Bonner, Earl Williams, Bill Breedlove, E. W. Lyle, Earl Phinney and Robert B. Simmons.
