Doctors:
Dr. J. Van Bibber; Dr. H.S. Sweatnam; Dr. J.D. Kincaid; Dr. Strother J. Yates
Dr. Kincaid worked at regimental headquarters from October 18- November 17, 1861, examining recruits.
Dr. Van Bibber , Dr. Yates and Dr. Sweatnam attended the sick in camp, visiting them and dispensing medicine.
Nurses:
Mrs. Frasher; Mrs. Hughs; Lewis Wood;
All three worked in the hospital - Lewis Wood for 13 days .
Pvt. Hospitals:
Neuman House; Jesse Price;
The Neuman House received the following five men on Nov. 7, 1861 (while in service under General Nelson)
B. Johnson , sick, for 12 days
Jo. Sperry, sick, for 4 days
Burl(?) Meeks, sick, for 4 days
Mr. Barrett, sick, for 1 day
Mr. Hensley, sick, for 1 day
Three more men were admitted on Nov. 11, 1861:
Wash. Miller, sick, for 2 days
N. Jacket, sick, for 5 days
Wm. Miller, sick, for 5 days
Jesse Price kept two sick men for 10 days while in service under Gen'l Nelson.
Room/Board:
C. Scott Gilkey; William Hays; Geo. W. Gallup; C.S. Culver; James P. Eastham; J.B. Friend
At the beginning of October 1861,C. Scott Gilkey provided 15 recruits with room and board:
John Cohen; Wm. Berry; James Miles; J. Jones; A. Neal; H. Cooksey; John Walker; Addison
Muncy; Wm. Chapman; Wash. Huff; George Chapman; Austin Burchett; Strother Roberts;
Wm. Fuggett.
On October 21,1861 William Hays boarded 43 recruits for one day. He was paid at Little
Blain.
George W. Gallup provided room and board for 12 recruits for 10 days in late October 1861,
for 25 recruits for 4 days and for 35 recruits for two days in late November 1861.
J. P. Eastham provided meals for part of the men of the 14th KY, as well as the teamsters.
It was at "Eastham's Tunnel" that Dr. Kincaid examined some of the recruits.
In Oct./Nov., 1861 Eastham used his team for "hauling soldiers to Catlettsburg from Tunnel",
a distance of 12 miles. In another document Dr. Kincaid gives the distance as being 10 miles.
In early Nov. 1861, J.B. Friend provides room and board for 30 recruits for 4
days.
C. S. Culver rented his house (5 rooms) for three weeks to portion of the 14th KY in October
and November 1861.
On December 11, Thomas Wallace rents his home for the next 14 months to the U.S Army to
serve as commissary (as well as a flat boat for 30 days and a horse for 12 days).
