Capt. Wiley C. Patrick Gravesite Service
We hosted the 14th KY Inf. state officers and members to luncheon Saturday noon, plus other people who had gathered to attend the memorial service. We thank Dorothy Wireman and Dr. Randall Mann for helping with the food. After motoring up the valley of the Burning Fork to the Meredith Patrick Cemetery we were met by several more people who had already gathered.

Our program began with a greeting from myself as a representative of the historical society and an introduction of Marlitta Perkins who conducted the program.

Elder John Blanton of the State Road United Baptist Church gave a beautiful invocation. The USA Pledge was given by John Mills, Commander, Dept. of KY Sons of Union Veterans. Then a poem, �Oh, Captain! My Captain!� was read by Robert M. Baker, Junior Vice-Commander of the Dept. of KY SUVCW. A wonderful rendition of �Amazing Grace� was sung by Carol Jean Howard, Tennika Howard, and Jincy Bailey.

All who were present introduced themselves and added comments and tributes. This was followed by comments on the military life of Captain Wiley C. Patrick by Timothy Downey, Commander, Dept. of KY SUVCW. Marlitta Perkins gave a resounding oration on the life of Wiley Patrick. Carol Jean, Jincy, and Tennika sang the patriotic song �I�m Proud To Be An American� as Patrick descendants planted the new Georgia Pine seedling, followed by a military salute and Taps. Elder Blanton gave the Benediction...
