Andrew M. Good Obituary

No history of Germania Township, Mn. could pass muster that failed to mention the services of Andrew M. Good to his community. He was born in Virginia, on June 1st., 1835 and moved with his parents to Kentucky when he was a small child. For many years Pike County was his home in the latter state. In 1857 he married Miss Sarah Childress, and they continued to make that state their home until the Civil War.

With the breaking out of hostilities, Mr. Good cast his lot with the Union and for four years carried a musket in ranks of the northern army. He was discharged from the service at the end of the war with a record of which his children and his children`s children may well be proud.

At the close of the war he moved to Minnesota, settling at Hutchinson for a time, then moving to Meeker County near Dassel. From Meeker Co. he moved to Germania, settling on what is now the Herman Rust farm. His wife died in 1906, and he retired from farming, and from that time made his home in the Village of Clarissa, where he held the highest respect of all who knew him.

We do not know whether they were all the children born to Mr. and Mrs. Good, but he was survived by three sons and three daughter as follows: Jennie who married William Agnew; a daughter who married Sam Dower; Eva, who married John E. Cherry; the sons being William, Edwin and Harvey. Of the sons, we believe that Edwin now lives at International Falls, Minnesota, but we do not know the residence of the others. Mr. Good died at Clarissa on September 9, 1918, and is buried in the cemetery at that place.
