Arms–(of John Burn-Murdoch of Gartincaber - matric LO 26 March 1904); Quarterly; 1st, or, two spur-rowels in chief and a hunting horn in base Sable (BURN); 2nd, Azure, a saltire between four unicorns' heads erased argent armed and crined or (HIGGINS); 3rd, Azure, a bend chequy or and gules between six billets of the second (CALLANDER); and 4th, per pale argent and Sable, two ravens pendant on an arrow fess-wise, pointing to the sinister, all counter-changed (MURDOCH). Crests:–(1) Two daggers in saltire proper; (2) A raven rising transfixed by an arrow all proper Mottoes:–(1) Tendit ad astra fides; (2) Omnia pro bono.

John married Lady Alice BURN-MURDOCH, daughter of John BURN-MURDOCH J.P. and Dorothea Harriet MONCK-MASON, on 8 Sep 1909.1 (Lady Alice BURN-MURDOCH was born in 1874 in Edinburgh 1 and died in 1974 1.)
