  BRADWORTHY is a village and parish in Holsworthy union, containing, by the census of 1861, 981 inhabitants and 9586 acres; in the deanery of Holsworthy, archdeaconry of Barnstaple, diocese of Exeter, hundred of Black Torrington, South Devonshire; 6 ½ miles north from Holsworthy, and 14 south-west from Bideford. The vicarage, with the chapelry of Pancrasweek attached, had the tithes commuted, in 1842, at £195 per annum, and has residence and 25A. 2R. 3P. of glebe land; it is in the incumbency of the Rev. James Burdon Clyde, B.A., and the patronage of the Crown. The rectorial tithes were also commuted at £381 per annum. The church is an ancient edifice, dedicated to St. John the Baptist, consisting of nave, chancel, north and south aisles, with tower and five bells. Samuel Lucas Lancaster, Esq., is lord of the manor.

ALFARDISWORTHY, DENWORTHY, KINSWORTHY and YOULSTON, are small hamlets of this parish.
