  BROARDWOOD WIDGER is a village and parish in Launceston union, containing, by the census of 1861, 845 inhabitants, and 8780 acres; in the deanery of Tavistock, archdeaconry of Totnes, diocese of Exeter, hundred of Lifton, South Devonshire; 6 miles north-east from Launceston. The vicarage, with the curacy of Week St. German's annexed, is valued at £90 per annum, and is in the incumbancy of the Rev. Ponsford Cann, M.A., and the patronage of the Dean and Chapter of Bristol, who are also appropriators of the rectorial tithes, which were commuted, in 1844, at £410 per annum. The church is an ancient edifice, with tower and five bells. The Bible Christians and Wesleyans have places of worship here.
