  LITTLEHAM is a village and parish in Bideford union, containing, by the census of 1861, 408 inhabitants, and 1250 acres; in the deanery of Hartland, archdeaconry of Barnstaple, diocese of Exeter, hundred of Shebbear, North Devonshire; 2½ miles south from Bideford. The rectory, in the incumbency of the Rev. Joseph Lymebear Harding, B.A., had the tithes commuted, in 1841, at £204 per annum, with residence and 93 acres of glebe land, and is in the patronage of G. Anthony, Esq. The church is an ancient edifice, dedicated to St. Swithin, in the Early English style, consisting of nave, chancel, aisle and transept, with tower and four bells. There is a school for children of both sexes. The poor have a charitable bequest producing 8s. per annum. The Rev. J. L. Harding and Miss Anthony are jointly lord and lady of the manor, and with Townsend Kirkwood, Esq., the chief landowners.
