Transcribed by Val HENDERSON Checked by Robert ROWLAND   Pages 883 - 884   WEMBURY is a village and parish in Plympton St. Mary union, containing, by the census of 1861, 561 inhabitants, and 3205 acres; in the deanery and hundred of Plympton, archdeaconry of Totnes, dicese of Exeter, South Devonshire; on the sea coast, overlooking Plymouth Sound, 6 miles south-east from Plymouth. The vicarage, in the incumbancy of the Rev. Richard Lane, B.A., is valued at £83 per annum, and is in the patronage of the Dean and Canons of Windsor. The church is a small ancient edifice, dedicated to St. Werburg, which has been restored and re-seated. B.R.P. Barstard, Esq., is lord of the manor, which previously to the dissolution by Henry VIII., was the property of Plympton Priory. Gentry. Blewett R., Esq.
