- "LIMONA - Bears, foxes and panthers prowled the neighborhood when Carmolete Mook Skjellet first came to Limona in December 1923. Now automobiles travel the same trails, and wild animals are seen only occasionally at night. 'I believe it was 1960 when they closed the post office,' Mrs. Skjellet said. 'Limona was 91 years old when they closed it to conserve money.' Her folks moved to Limona from Tampa when she was 9, the oldest of four daughters. The other girls were named Sadie, Velma and Evelyn. A son - Philip - was born to the Mook family after the move. He was the only child born in a hospital."
