Ref: List 112

A collection of photographs dating from the 1900s to the 1950s that belonged to Mike's Grandmother Jennie Elstob, he says he wished he had asked more about these but at the time he was more interested in climbing trees. Jennie also collected Edwardian Actresses, see Edwardian Actresses
Thanks Mike for sending them.

Notes by Roger constructed from information on the postcards etc.
Miss Jennie Elstob was born Jane Elizabeth Elstob on Sunday 13th July 1890. Between 1904 - 1913 she lived at Fox Hill Farm, Sadberge, Darlington. By 1905-8 she had friends, Dulcie [Walker] and Florrie, and Lily (at Stockton) who sent actress postcards for her collection. She may have had a sister Alice who lived at Stockton-on Tees, also a brother Fred and his wife Amy and their son, and a cousin Sissy.
Jennie married William Norman Lambert, she was living at Bewley Hill Farm, Sadburge, Darlington in 1914 and was still there in 1931. They had a son, Willie Lambert. Jennie's birthday was in July. There are several photos of Jennie.
Several family members served in the Great War.

In 1928 Mrs Elstob (mother of Jennie and Alice) was living at 'Ingleford' The Bank, Hartburn, Stockton-on-Tees, I assume with daughter Alice. The photos continue through the Second World War and a few from the 1950s.
Why the orientals were collected I cant imagine!

I have also been sent two Autograph Books: one belonging to Jennie Elstob and the other Olive Mary Lambert started when she was ten, (Mikes mother). They are full of humour and sayings. Jennie Elstob's Autograph Book
