Ancestry of Emily Jane Angell says he was bapt 15 Jul 1666. Captain John Johnson Genealogy says b Jan 1666 and bapt Jul 1666. Hingham town register says Jan 19 1665.

They lived at Hingham and Sherborn, Massachusetts, and Pomfret, Connnecticut. He was in the Canada Expedition in 1690 under Captain Andrews.

Johnson Genealogy says that Abigail's identity is unknown even though a date of birth is cited from church records (Sharon church records) for her - but it is different from that of Abigail Stanisfield May the second wife of his father Nathaniel.

General Notes for Child Thomas MORSE [REV]

"named as living, in the will of his grandfather, Robert Morse, 5 Oct 1551, and as "Thomas Mosse the Elder" in the will of his uncle, John Mosse, the Edler, 23 Sep 1577, and probably identical wtih the Rev. Thomas Morse who is given as No 4 of this pedigree.

He died between 10 Nov 1596, when he made his will, and 10 Mar 1596/77, when John Fermin, his successor as rector of Foxearth, co Essex, was presented by the patron of that living, Anne Butts, widow.

REv Thomas Morse was presented to the vicarage of Boxted, co Essex, of which the Bishop of London was a patron, in 1573, and held this living until 1578, when he resigned, his successor , Rev. Philip Silgate, being presented on 18 Mar 1578/9. Apparently he continued to lvie at Boxted until 1583, for the baptisms of his five cihldren by his first wife down to and including Daniel who was bapt 2 May 1583, were recorded tehre. On 14 July 1583 he was inducted as rector of Hinderclay, in northern Suffolk. From about 1594 until his death he was rector of Foxearth, co Essex. His son Nathaniel was baptized there, and his next and yougest child.

In his will, he beqeathed to his nine children now living 90 pounds, that is 20 pounds to every child, the eight sons at age 23, adn the daughter at age 21. Brother richard and sister Margaret. He left all the books in his study to his eldest son, Rev. John Morse, a parish clergyman in the Church of England.

To his eldest son he gave all teh books in his study, and to his wife Margaret the residue of his estate,adn she was to bring up his children in learning.


General Notes for Child Richard MORSE

of Boxted and DEdham, co Essex, weaver, b abt 1540, buried at Dedham. Married first unkown, and second at Deham Margery Symone.

He was named, with is brother Lancelot, in the nuncupative will of his grandmother, AGnes Mosse, and by the will of his brother Rev. Thomas Morse. He was occupying a messuage in Edham, when Thoams Gover bequeathed him 20 s. Children baptized at Boxted and Dedham.

His will, which was proved in the court of the Archdeaconry of Sudbury on 12 April 1580, is abstracted below.

Roger Frost of "Glemisford", co Suff., husbandman. 19 March 1579/80. Sick in body. To be buried "amonge my auncestors & kinred in the churcheyard of Glemisford". To wife Katheryne all the messuage where I now dwell and lands in Glemsford which I now occupyy, until son John reaches age of 21, then wife Katheryne "in recompense for her dower" and son John shall hold messuage, lands, & tememetns in common during life of Katherine. T wife Katheryne use of all my household stuff (etc) with cattel on said grounds except ten ewes to son John until he is 21, at which time household stuff and cattel to be held in common by wife Katheryn adn son John for her life. After her death, teh same wholly to John. To Thomas Gardyner of Glemsford, clothier, all my meadow in Glesford called Turpytts otherwise Partable meadow, in consideration of 658 10s. in hand, of which brotehr John Frost "the elder" shall have 624 10s. to the use of Raffe my son. Said Raffe to be placed in service; said money to be "put fourth" with him and repaid to him at age 21 "or neare therabouts". If Raffe die before 21, the money to go "in lyke maner" to my sons Edward & Henrye; if either die before 21, the whole to the survivor. To sons Edward and Henry one close of freehould land and pasture called new pasture, except a piece of meadow at north end. Wife Katheryne and son John shall have use of land until Henry reaches 21, paying yearly to Edward and Henry 20s., the said rent to be received by Thomas Gardener & my brother John Frost. To said Edward & Henry land in "Oxenfilde" on the south side of land of George Collingwood when Henry reaches 21; in the meantime to wife Katheryne and son John. To grandchild & godson Roger Mason 1/2 acre in Milfielde in Glesford on north syde of Cocks peace" at age of 21; John Mason his father and Anne his wife to have land until then. To Anne Mason a brass pot "which was her grandmother Everard", and one seam of barley. To her daughter Anne Mason 20 s. at age of 21. To my other two daughrters Katheryne and Alyce b6 13s 4d each at the age of 21, and to each 1 silver spoon. To my sister Shasfilde and my sister Ryther one combe of barley malt each. To my servants John Ryther and Priscilla Howe one seam of barley each. Residue to wife Katheryneand eldest son John Frost, who are appointed executors. Wife Katheryn to enter into bonds for 100 marks that she not recover dower and keep houses in repair until son John shall reach 21 and "in the meane season shall as muche as in hyr ys brynge upp my children excepte the said Raffe (who was to be put out to service) with convenient and cessarye meate dryinke and Apparell..." If she refuse to enter into bonds, all given to her [in will] shall be boid, and son John shall be sole executor. On the side of the Stratford Saint Mary parish church the north side was added by Thomas Mors (Morse) in 1494. Mors was a wealthy clothier. The Morse family migrated from Dedham in England, to Dedham, Massachusetts where Joseph Morse 7th generation was a founder of the Medfield Grant.

Robert's father, whose Christian name is unknown, was probably living at SToke by Nayland about 1490, and William Morse, who was taxed at Stoke by Nayland on property valued at 3 pounds, in the subsidy of 1524-5, was perhaps Robert's brother.
