She may be the Rose Adams buried at Barton david on that date.

the identity of his wife is not proven.

General Notes for Child John ADAMS

I think christening date I have down is a mistake.

He wrote a will dated three days before he was buried; it was not signed nor witnessed, he apparently didn't live long enough.

General Notes for Child John <ADAMS>

As far as known lived in Barton St DAvid all the life; occupied his father's copyhold land , a husbandman. May 27 1597 he became bondman for Agnes, widow of John Stone of Barton David; executrix of the will of her late husband. THe wife of John Adams was named Agnes; he may have become surety for his mother-in-law, a common occurrence.
Parish registers of baptisms, marriages and burials in Barton St DAvd prior to 1714 lost.

General Notes (Husband)

Berkhamstead parish register (TAG)

Massive confusion about who he married. The Edmund Rice Association web site reports

"Joseph Rice married Mercy King, daughter of Deacon Thomas King and Anne Collins [incorrect], on 4 May 1658 at Sudbury, MA. There is some uncertainty about whether Mercy King died soon after her marriage to Joseph or whether she is the Martha Rice, wife of Joseph, who appears in the Marrlborough vital records as having died on 4 Jan 1668. Ward lists both Mercy King and Martha (?) as wives of Joseph. The Rice Genealogical Register lists only wife Mercy King and takes the death record on 4 Jan 1668 to be that of Mercy King. There is no mention of a marraige between Joseph Rice and Martha (Eames) in the Sudbury vital records. On the other hand, the birth records of Joseph's first four children all list the mother as Martha. Joseph Rice married 3rd, Mary Beers, daughter of Capt. Richard Beers, and Elizabeth Firman, in 1670. Joseph Rice married Sarah Prescott, daughter of John Prescott and Mary Platts, on 22 Feb 1677/8 at Dedham, MA, under the name Wheeler." The Rice association divides Joseph's children among the first three wives.

He lived in Marlborough in 1675. His house was one of the garrisons set up in Marlborough during King Philip's War. Between 1677 and 1681 he lived at Watertown, Massachusetts. He was chosen one of the tithingmen in Watertown in 1680.

General Notes (Husband)

http://www.mandellstreit.com/genealogy/families/bigelows/

JOHN1 BIGELOW, 8th great-grandfather of Al Streit, was born in Wrentham, Suffolk, in 1617 and died July 14, 1703 in Watertown, Massachusetts. He married Mary Warren in Watertown, Massachusetts, August 30, 1642. Their marriage was the first ever recorded in Watertown. MARY5 WARREN (John4, John3, John2, Robert1) was born in Nayland, Suffolk and died October 19, 1691 in Watertown. John was a blacksmith by trade, and was elected selectman of Watertown in 1665, 1670, and 1671. He served as the town surveyor of highways twice. Mary emigrated to Massachusetts with her parents, John Warren III and Margaret (------). These families embraced the religious reform movement known as Puritanism, the movement which in the late 16th and 17th centuries sought to “purify” the Church of England from remnants of Roman Catholicism that the Puritans claimed had been retained after the religious settlement reached early in the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. They emigrated to the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1630, arriving in the fleet with Sir Richard Saltonstall. The year of their arrival marked the beginning of the so-called Great Migration from East Anglia to New England. Through their son Samuel, John Bigelow and Mary Warren were ancestors of U.S. President James A. Garfield and Bigelow Carpet Company founder Erastus B. Bigelow. Through son Joshua, they were ancestors of Mary Jane and Lucy Bigelow, both of whom married Mormon leader Brigham Young, and David E. Bigelow, whose wife Ruth (Campbell) Bigelow founded the Bigelow Tea Company. Through daughter Sarah, they were ancestors of Red Cross founder Clara Barton.

Most of the information in our files was taken from Genealogy of the Bigelow Family of America, from the Marriage in 1642 of John Biglo and Mary Warren to the Year 1890, by Gilman Bigelow Howe (Hamilton, Worcester, Mass., 1890). A photo-copy version of this book is still in print and is available from the New England Historic Genealogical Society, 101 Newbury Street, Boston, MA 02116. Copies are also available for loan to members of this organization. At present, we have almost 33,000 members of this family in our database!!!
