Will of Robert Morse of Stoke Nayland, Suffolk, husbandman, dated 5 Oct 1551. To my son John the Edler the house where I live, ... To Robert and Thomas, sons of my son Thomas, who now dwells with me, 20s towards their keeping. To my son Richard the house and lands called Canons, at his age of 21. To my son John the Younger half of my tenement called Pauling at his age of 21. To my daughters Alice, Jone, Margaret, Katherine. To my wife Agnes my dun mare. Proved 15 Sep 1552.

On the side of the Stratford Saint Mary parish church the north side was added by Thomas Mors (Morse) in 1494. Mors was a wealthy clothier. The Morse family migrated from Dedham in England, to Dedham, Massachusetts where Joseph Morse 7th generation was a founder of the Medfield Grant.



Other wills are of William Morse of Suffolk, clothier, landin tenure of Anthony Morse. Cousins Hubbard - gold rings.

Thomas Morse, minister of God in the County of Essex, dated 10 Nov 1596. Nine children. A brother, Richard Mosse. A son Joseph. sister Margaret. Bibles to his eight youngest children. All his books in his study to his eldest son. Residue of goods, money, plate, bonds, mrotgages, cattle, household stuff, to wife Margaret, and she is to educate his childrren.

Robert Mosse of Stoke by Nayland, single man, 21 Aug 1600, bequathes house and other property in Stoke by Nayland to Gillian Bacon, his exutrix.

Noncupative will of Mary Mosse of Dedham, co Essex, single, dated 9 May 1631. To three unmarried sisters apparel at the discretion of Francis Gibbs. Witnesses Jeremy and Margaret Mosse.

Robert's father, whose Christian name is unknown, was probably living at SToke by Nayland about 1490, and William Morse, who was taxed at Stoke by Nayland on property valued at 3 pounds, in the subsidy of 1524-5, was perhaps Robert's brother.

Samuel raised teh alrm when Indians attacked Medfield in 1676. 1680 Medfield MA voted to grant 50 acres of land for mill on the Charles River adn toe exempt the mill from taxes for seven years. Samuel Morse one of a number of people who built it. This mill was burned before 1685 by John Sunchamaug, and Indian who was prosecuted.
