General Notes (Wife)
Her parentage is controversial; I have two sets reconstructed from the same set of wills and so forth of the Bigge family of Kent. The family were clothiers.
I've adopted James as teh father as the primary parents because I've seen the argument for how it was derived; the argument for the other parentage exists. The Bigge family traces back nearly to 1400 through their wills, in the Cranbrook area. They seem to have always been clothiers, fairly well off.
The parents of John Bigge, clothier of Cranbrook, Kent, have not been identified. John Insley Coddington (NEHGR, Oct. 1938) said John "may well have been a descendant of Richard Bigge of Cranbrook, clothier, whose will, dated 4 November, 24 Henry VIII [1532], and proved 5 Aug. 1533 (P.C.C., 5 Hogen), was printed in Emmerton and in Waters' `Gleanings,' p.11." The author has examined the wills of that Richard Bigge and his son Gervase, and leans toward John, the son of Richard's son James, as the best candidate. However, James is not known to have had a daughter Elizabeth, and did have a daughter Susanne. James did have only two other known children, named John and Mary.
According to one breakdown, one individual had the following children.
+ 2 i. John2 Bigg.
+ 3 ii. Elizabeth Bigg.
+ 4 iii. Mary Bigg.
2. John2 Bigg (Parent of John1) (#1687) birth date unknown. His remains were interred August 13, 1605 in Cranbrook, Kent, England.(2)
He married Rachel Martin September 14, 1583 in Tenterden, Kent, England.(3) (Rachel Martin is #1686.) Rachel was born before June 17, 1565 (chr. date) in Lydd, Kent, England. Rachel was the daughter of James Martin and Joan Adam. Rachel died circa 1647 in Dorchester, Suffolk Co, MA. She was christened June 17, 1565 in Lydd, Kent, England.(4) Rachel's estate was probated November 17, 1646 in Suffolk Co, MA.(5)
John was employed at as a clothier. John's estate was probated October 30, 1605 in Consistory Court, Canterbury, Kent, England.(6)
One of John's sons mentioned "my Aunt Mary Bridger of West Peckham and her two sons, Robert and Thomas Betts"; in his will.

Settled in Watertown, MA. Possibly sent there at a young age with his father's sister and her husband, who may have been Deacon Child.
He held numerous public offices inWatertown. He bought land in 1654-5, was admitted a freeman 1682, and to the church, f.c., 1687. (I wonder in context if this author has his dates screwed up again.) Died intestate.
General Notes (Wife)
daughter of Nathaniel Biscoe "the rich tanner" of Watertown.
He wrote in 1642 and circulated privately a pamphlet "against the way of supporting ministers" that was very controversial, was fined ten pounds. In that year, his barn was destroyed by fire. General Notes (Husband)
John Bond came to America in 1642, landed in Newbury later moved to Haverill.
John Bond the son of Thomas Bond of Bury St. Edmunds, christened 1624, was willed lands and tenements in Monks Ely by his father, and has three children also mentioned in his father's will; his father's will was written in 1658 and proved 1659; this is taken to mean this John Bond is not the John Bond who settled in Newbury, MA. Similarly, John's brother Jonas, who died in 1681, willed John's eldest son Thomas, his lands etc in Farnham, and in Bury St. Edmunds, and 50 pounds to John 's son Jonas.
I gave John Bond the son of Thomas Bond of Bury St. Edmunds both families for now.
George MacKenzie questions if John Bond who married Emma Graves son of John and Hester (Blakesley) Bond of Newbury b 6/10/1650; latter probably didn't survive childhood; not in his father's will. (THat doesn't nec. mean he didn't survive childhood.) He says court records in Essex Co put his birth year as appr 1661. In 1665, Dorothy Bond m Henry Bailey; an "early planter" of Bass River. In 1687, Henry Bailey granted land to son-in-law John Bond. He prob a son of Dorothy who prob was a widow. She d bef 20 Jul 1699. Edward Bond d 16 Feb 1676, accidentally; he prob was a brother of John.
General Notes for Child John BOND
See the genealogy of this John Bond Family by Michael Rudy, in the NEHGR January 1983 issue, quoted in posts to Rootsweb and also a source for Sweet and Huffman-Klintowitz, 1992, "The Descendants of John Bond, 1661, of Beverly, Massachusetts", which is online at the BYU (Brigham Young University) library family histories collection.
Not much informaiton survives concerning John Bond. He appears to have died at the young age of about 30. He is styled "husbandman" and the only mention of him in the town records of Beverly is that he served as a fenceviewer in 1684 He had church mebership, joining hte Beverly church and having his daughter Elizabet baptized on 22 Jan 1684/5. The baptisms of his other two children also appear on the church records.
Amy was granted administration of his estate 16 Apr 1694. On 14 Aug 1699, now remarried, she was apointed guardian of the three children ad presented her account of administration. Although the inventory does not surive, teh administrator's account shows real estate of 146 pounds and personal estate of 73 pounds. Amy signed this with her mark.
There was John Bond of Beverly, John Bond of Newbury, and John Bond of Watertown. John Bond of Beverly has been erroneously identified with John Bond of Newbury, and one popular account tries to make him the son of John of Newbury. That was questioned on the grounds that he was not mentioned in the will of John of Newbury in 31 Oct 1674, though he was living at the time. John of Newbury moved to Haverhill and his sons lived there and in Bradford (part of Haverhill today). John of Newbury did have a son John, born 10 Jun 1650 who must have died before that date. Too bad; John of Newbury was originally a bondservant who got into trouble for having chased a young lady into the loft of her home. William Bond of Watertown had a son John the right age to be John of Beverly but this John had a wife and children of his own.
John Bond of Beverly was previously most popularly identified with a well to do Bond family in Suffolk County, England. The wills of John Bond d 1624 of Suffolk and his brother Jonas, make it clear that the sons of John Bond all stayed in England. They were willed land there by their father and uncle, and they were not described as being in New England. John Bond the son of Thomas Bond of Bury St. Edmunds, christened 1624, was willed lands and tenements in Monks Ely by his father, and has three children also mentioned in his father's will; his father's will was written in 1658 and proved 1659; this is taken to maen this John Bond is not the John Bond who settled in Newbury MA. Similarly, JOhn's brother Jonas, who died in 1681, willed John's eldest son Thomas, his lands etc in Farmham, and in Bury St. Edmunds, adn 50 pounds to John's son Jonas, which tells us that Joh's sons stayed in England.
John Bond in Beverly appears to have been one of three apparent children of a widow named Dorothy Bond. Their origins are unknown. Her first husband is unknown. In 1665, she married Henry Baily, an early planter on te Bass River. In 1687, Henry Bailey granted land ot his son in law John Bond. I have an idea that Henry Bailey moved his entire family from Beverly to Leicester. John Bond must have stayed in Beverly. Eventually his son Edward moved to Leicester, and his descendants have lived in Leicester ever since.
John Bond died fairly young; he was only about 30.
