Deharts: notes and genealogical information

Descendants of Elias Simon Dehart and Catherine Lane

Elias Simon c 1677
lived "there" 1700 Lived on father;s
land in Brooklyn until 1710. Moved to Six Mile
Run, Monmouth Co, NJ Six Mile Run Dutch Reformed
    Church.
His children among the first settlers
    of what became Berks Co.
Linda Demko has it broken down as
follows: Elias bought 600 acres of land
i Amity in 1729. Elias and Simon who was
not Elias' brother were among six taxables
in Amity before 1734, even though Simon
Jr not born until 1728. (and is supposed
to have settled in Ohio and not Spartanburg)
Another odd thing about Simon - his wife's
name was Mary in 1745 when he sold land to
Gilbert. Simon jr m Rachel, and Simon sr m
    Eleyson.
Also, Elias Simon himself with Catherine
must have gone to Amity, since that couple
sold 300 acres to Gilbert in 1742, before
going south, possibly with Daniel Boone and
poss. to Spartanburg. I don't have Elias
    jr's wife.
Gilbert held 100 acres in Amity by warrantee,
which was subsqu surveyed in 1737. Elias
adm'd the estate of Aaron who d 4/25/1739.
In 1742 "Elias and his wife Catharine" sold
about 300 acres to Gilbert. They then are
said to have moved with the Daniel Boone
party south. Some residedin Spartanburg, SC.
There Elias' son Elias lived. Gilert and
Smon signed the petition to form Amity twp
in 1744. Gilbert d 1754, two sons, Samuel
and William got the farm, dau's Catharine,
Sarah, Elizabeth and Mary, his widow E.
Reed and sister Charity. (Gilbert would
be Geisbert.) Gilbert must have ended up
with 700 acres. Linda has it as passing to
his two sons, William and Samuel, and as
passing directly from Gilbert to Cornelius.

Catalina Van Pelt - this is confused.
Deborah Clear has the following on the Lanes
and Van Pelt's; Two brothers, Teunis Janszen
Van Pelt and Mattys Janszen Lanen Van Pelt
came to New Netherland in 1663 on ship
"Rosetree", with wives and children. Most
descendants of Teunis called Van Pelt, most
    descendants of Mattys called Lane.
    Teunis = Tony, Anthony.
Tys = Mattys = Matthew or Matt.
Gysbert Thyssen Lane eldest son of Mattys
m Jannetje, dau of Adriaen Lamberts (Smith)
in 1672, Long Island. Gysbert and Jannetje
moved to Monmouth Co NJ bef 1709.

Geisbert c 1717 LInda has Feb 1718 Freehold
NJ. Appears to be Gilbert, who held 100
acres in Amity that he had surveyed in
1737, bought land from Simon and wife
Mary, and 300 acres from Elias and wife
Catherine. HE left his land to his two
sons, Samuel and William, but then Linda
has his land passing from him to Cornelius,
and called Chestnut Flat in Amity. He also
      had daughters Catharine, Sarah, Elzabeth
and Mary, who may not have been of age,
      and sister Charity (Katelenke?) lived
      with them. m. Elizabeth Reed.

son Joseph Boone Sr, a br of Squire Boone,
father of Daniel Boone. Catherine's brother,
Jacaob Boone, m sister Mary Dehart. William
died in Berks Co, Catherine rem Sam. Ingels.
Left her three Dehart kids, all minors, in
Berks Co and went to KY. When grown the
           three kids went there too.

     **** BERKS CO
Sources aren't certain if he was son of Elias
or Elias' brother Cornelius, and b Six Mile
Run, Monmouth Co. Many people think former,
many think latter. That is why different
genealogies have this person and descendants
     in different locations.
Cousin has him pretty well pinned down as son
     of Elias.

  Symon c 1/29/1703 Brooklyn d Spartanberg, SC
       m Ayles Eleson 1730 NY/ Monmouth
There is some controversy on exactly who are the
"Symon and Elias" brothers who paid taxes on 100
acres in Amity Township, now Berks Co (then Phil Co)
No proof this is same Simon and Elias who went to
Virginia. Now thought Simon was Simon the son of
Simon, ie, Simon Jr. Simon Sr went to Spartanburg,
NC and prob died there. Linda Demko has Simon Jr
went first to Berks Co and then to Spartanberg,
SC. Dehart list also think this is what happened.
But Simon Jr was not b until 1728 and cannot be
the Simon who paid taxes in Amity in 1734. Furhter,
that Simon was married to Mary when he sold land to
Gilbert; Simon Sr m Ayles; Simon Jr m Rachel.
