General Notes (Husband)
Chain of JOhn Miller's is unclear. From Immigration of Irish Quakers to Pennsylvania,
"John Miller (1), son of John Miller, born at "Breckenbrough in ye Parish of Kerbywilk in Yorkshire" in 1633, went over into Ireland as a planter, in 1657, and married Ann, daughter of William Clibborn, who was born in 1630, at Cowley, in the Coutny of Durham, England. Their children were: William, b 1659, at Moate, Margaret, b 1662 at Schurrch?, d 1668, John b 1665 at Moate, Tomas, b 1667, at Ballynalynch, Abraham, b 1670, at Glin, County West Meath, and Isaac, b 1672, at Glin, County West Meath. (cites Potts, Our Family Ancestors, p 245-6).
The note 1 refers to one Robert Miller of County Antrim had goods seized for tiithes in 1677 (Stockdale, 76). Same man, of parish of Denniskean, County Antrim, had his goods taken for tihtes in 1681 (Stockdale, 166) Stockdale may be the author of "A Great Cry of Oppression", which on p 13, 36, and 169, tells us that in 1672 Andrew Ignew of County Antrim had his goods seized for thithes and in 1673 was imprisoned at Carrickfergus, and that in 1681, of Ballinderry Parish, C Antrim, h e had his goods taken for tithes.
"One John Miller, possibly a son of the above John Miller, married Mary, sister of Andrew Ignew and as early as 1693 was living within the limits of Grange Meeting near Charlemont, Co Armagh, Ireland. He and his family arrived in Chester County, PA, in 1709...and settled on a large tract of land in New Garden Township."
Listed as his children are two sets of children; John, James and Gayen supposed by the author of "Immigration of the Irish Quakers to Pennsylvania" to be brothers, and the known children of John Miller who married Ann Clibborn. I'm treating the two John's as the same person. Gayen and James were not listed as children of John Sr; could they be the children of the mysterious Robert MIller, or some other relative?
General Notes (Wife)
From Claiborne Society web site. It identifies where the three sisters of John Clibborn were baptized, but gives only the years for dates. Winston parish is south of Hamsterly. The family lived in Cockfield and Hamsterly parishes.
John's mother and her daughters came to Moate from England in 1653 or 1656.
